Dr. Balakrishnan is one of the co-founders of Enablence has extensive product development and commercialization expertise spanning several markets, including telecommunications, spectroscopy, sensors, and biophotonics. At Enablence, he led the TOSA/ROSA and transceiver development for PON, Metro, and coherent long-haul offerings. Following this he spearheaded the development effort to create industry-leading MUX/DEMUX PLCs for the Datacom market. Prior to Enablence, Ashok was the Manager of Product Integration at Optenia, a Staff Scientist at SDL (now JDS Uniphase), a Photonics Development Scientist with Mitel Semiconductor (now Zarlink) and he was a researcher with the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Dr. Balakrishnan has numerous publications and inventions in the areas of spectroscopy, telecommunications, and biophotonics. Ashok holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Toronto.
