Enablence is a leader in optical design and manufacturing for planar lightwave circuits (PLC). We are a leading provider of optical chips for datacom and telecom, and we are expanding into many other applications, including LiDAR, OCT and accelerated computing for AI workloads.

We are growing our company as our volumes increase and we enter new markets. Enablence is seeking a senior optical engineer to lead the effort to setup and optimize testing and optical chip post-processing. We offer a vibrant and fast-paced work environment in Ottawa, Canada, with many exciting projects.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has prior experience in optical testing and packaging:

• Able to establish, characterize, and optimize testing stations, including automation methods.

• Proficiency with optical testing (Mueller Matrix method, PM fiber-based, multimode fiber usage, etc.)

• Experienced with data analysis, familiar with statistical analysis methods.

• Some experience with active elements such as photodiodes and laser diodes.

• Some experience with optical packaging. Familiarity with excimer or solid-state UV lasers would be an asset, but not a necessity.

• Familiar with Git, Python

• Willing and able to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Requirements

• 3 years minimum work experience in the field of optics, preferably involving optical chips.

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering or a similar field, with a focus on an optical technology or application.
